ICX® – Innovative Compounding and Extrusion Technology
Increasing pressure on order lead times, consistent finished-product quality, growing product diversity and global availability at competitive prices characterise the business environment of compounders. The key to meeting these challenges is flexible production. For this reason, FEDDEM has developed, in partnership with its sister company AKRO-PLASTIC, the standardised machine concept known as ICX® Technology (Innovative Compounding and Extrusion Technology).
The Ideal Machine for Your Compounding Processes
With respect to screw geometry and available torque, the MT series represents the ideal solution for all compounding processes – designed, as it is, to produce high throughput rates as well as outstanding product quality. Speeds of up to 1200 rpm are available.
Screw Geometry for Gentle Processing
Excellent product quality can only be achieved when screw elements provide the energy input required for the particular processing task without causing the product to overheat. The FED-MT achieves this through the unique screw geometry in its melting and mixing elements. The product is allowed to remain long enough for the required amount of energy dissipation without temperature peaks occurring. The melting process and filler mixing can be carried out using screw elements with the same geometry, which means fewer spare parts need to be kept in stock.
The available torque and conveying volumes (do/di = 1.55) of the screw elements in the MTS line are specially adapted to meet the requirements of compounding engineering plastics and masterbatches. Screw diameters ranging from 26–82 mm and a product-dependent output rate of 40 kg up to 4 tonnes per hour are available. For volume requiring products, FEDDEM provides extruders from the MTV line. Machines with a diameter from 55–135 mm and various do/di ratios, ranging from 1.6–1.8, are available.
We manufacture processing units in 25-135 mm screw diameters which can also be equipped with the appropriate wear protection. The configuration of the screw shaft and barrels is designed according to individual process requirements. In addition to utilising our processing units as an integral part of our FEDDEM extruder, these processing units are also used in other makes as well as in “Inline Compounding Processes.”
A wide range of diverse auxiliary equipment can be provided, adapted to the needs of the specific process. Available equipment out of our own production includes strand die heads (nozzle plates and screen plates); FSB (side feeder); FSV (side vacuum degassing etc.). In cooperation with our partners, we provide everything around the compounding processes – from material input to packaging of the finished product.
